- Aims
The aims of the Jikiden Reiki UK Association will be:
- To create a central hub to promote a cohesive national Jikiden Reiki community in the UK
- To support Jikiden Reiki students, professional practitioners, and teachers in the UK, including the provision of a CNHC Verified Practitioner Programme
- To Foster the growth of Jikiden Reiki in the UK, maintaining the integrity and spirit of the founder of Reiki
- Membership
Membership is open to anyone who:
- Has taken the Jikiden Reiki Shoden level or above
- And is a UK resident
The membership application process starts by visiting the Jikiden Reiki UK Association website membership page, then completing the online membership application form, providing information on their Jikiden Reiki training status, and completing the relevant membership declarations.
Their Jikiden Reiki training status will then be checked and you will then receive an ‘invitation to join’ email containing membership details, highlighted key terms of membership, along with a link to the full terms of service document, our Code of Conduct, and a payment link. If the applicant agrees to the terms of service and to abide by the Code of Conduct then they can proceed to make the payment for the first annual membership payment.
Membership will begin on the day of payment, the Jikiden Reiki UK Association will confirm acceptance of membership at this point, and the member will gain access to the member resources.
There will be an annual membership fee which on 01/06/24 is £50 per year, thereafter membership will be collected by credit card automatic renewal payment. The current system used is Stripe. The membership fee is payable by all members. Members may resign/cancel membership by canceling their auto-renew payment in their JRUKA account, before their renewal date.
Full details of membership can be found within the Terms of Service Document.A list of all members will be kept by the Jikiden Reiki UK Association and stored securely. The current system used is Memberpress and OneDrive.
Any offensive behaviour, including racist, sexist, or inflammatory remarks, will not be tolerated. Anyone behaving offensively may be asked not to attend further meetings or to resign from the group if an apology is not given or the behaviour is repeated. The individual concerned shall have the right to be heard by the core committee, accompanied by a friend, before a final decision is made.
Soon after signup or renewal, a certificate will be issued with their membership number and status.- Equal Opportunities
The Jikiden Reiki UK Association will not discriminate on the grounds of gender, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, sexuality, disability, religious or political belief, marital status, or age.
- Committee
The business of the group will be carried out by a Committee. The Committee will meet as necessary and not less than once a year.
The Committee will consist of at least 3 core members with additional members supporting the committee at the discretion of the committee.
The committee members will allocate titles and share the roles on an as-needed basis to ensure the effective running of the organization.
In the event of a core committee member standing down during the year, if a replacement is deemed to be required by the remaining Committee members, or the Jikiden Reiki Institute, a replacement will be found as soon as possible. 6 months’ notice must be given if possible and a new member found from Teacher members.
Any change to the core committee membership must be approved by the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Japan.
Any committee member not attending a meeting without an apology for three meetings will be contacted by the committee and asked if they wish to resign.
- Unanimous decisions
A decision of the committee is taken following this Articles of Association when all eligible committee members indicate to each other by any means that they share a common view on a matter.
Such a decision may take the form of a resolution in writing, copies of which have been signed by each committee member or to which each committee member has otherwise indicated agreement in writing. Or by general agreement noted in the minutes or on the Asana app.
A decision may not be taken following this constitution if the eligible committee members would not have formed a quorum at such a meeting.
- Committee member agreements
Committee members agree:
- To accept that the Jikiden Reiki Institute Japan has an overruling say on the way the Jikiden Reiki UK Association works and the content of the Jikiden Reiki UK Association website and documentation.
- The Jikiden Reiki Institute has the right to dissolve the association if it believes it goes against its principles/teachings.
- To remain honorable and act appropriately, in a legal fashion at all times.
- To treat each other with respect and always communicate in this manner.
- To accept all decisions made will be by a majority vote of the committee.
- The focus and scope of Jikiden Reiki UK Association activities will be determined by the Aims of the Jikiden Reiki UK Association.
- The Jikiden Reiki UK association is set up as an Unincorporated Association with all funding being used for Jikiden Reiki UK Association activities only.
- Any arrangements made, that have a financial cost to the Jikiden Reiki UK Association require prior approval of the committee.
- Reporting to the Membership
The core Committee will present an annual report of the work of the Jikiden Reiki UK Association over the year.
The membership will have an opportunity to express feedback from the annual report via an online feedback form.
The core Committee will keep the membership informed of the planned future direction, focus, and activities of the Jikiden Reiki UK Association in the annual report, as well as periodically as appropriate.
The membership will have opportunities to express input into the planned future direction, focus, and activities of the Jikiden Reiki UK Association following the overall Aims of the organisation.
In addition, mechanisms are in place for the membership to have an opportunity at any time to provide feedback or raise issues with the Committee. A feedback form is situated at the base of the members' resources area.- Committee Meetings
The Committee will hold regular meetings for the effective decision-making and day-to-day running of the organization.
Committee meetings may be called by any of the core committee members.Committee members must receive notice of meetings at least 7 days before the meeting.
The quorum for Committee meetings is three Committee members.- Rules of Procedure for meetings
All questions that arise at any meeting will be discussed openly and the meeting will seek to find a general agreement that everyone present can agree to.
If a consensus cannot be reached a vote will be taken and a decision will be made by a simple majority of members present.
If the committee cannot agree on a matter, it will be discussed with the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Japan.
- Working Groups
Working groups to which the Committee delegates any of their powers must follow procedures which are based as far as they are applicable on those provisions of the Constitution which govern the taking of decisions by the committee.
The committee may make rules of procedure for all or any working groups, which prevail over rules derived from the constitution if they are not consistent with them.
Should additional sub-project groups be set up they will work within the Association’s existing governance structure and adhere to all operating requirements. Projects may be managed by member volunteers. Volunteer number, requirements, scope, and duration of the project, along with any required processes will be determined for each project individually.- Finances
An account will be maintained on behalf of the Association at a bank agreed upon by the committee and all payments are agreed upon by the committee and then paid by the treasurer.
All money raised by or on behalf of Jikiden Reiki UK Association is only to be used to further the aims of the group, as specified in item 2 of this Articles of Association. An Accountant will be tasked with collating annual accounts which will be recorded each year, with the year-end being 31st May each year.
Honorariums will be awarded to committee members in recognition of their time, effort, and contributions, as deemed appropriate by the committee and following the association's budget and financial policies.
Working group volunteers may be awarded free memberships and free entry to in-person events in recognition of their contribution.
- Amendments to the Constitutionor Articles of Association
Amendments to the constitution or Articles of Association may only be made by a majority of the Committee members.
- Dissolution
If the committee, by a majority, or the Jikiden Reiki Head Office in Japan decides that it is necessary to close down the Jikiden Reiki UK Association it may call a Special Meeting to do so. The sole business of this meeting will be to dissolve the group.
If it is agreed to dissolve the group, all remaining money minus any admin fees would be used for the benefit of the members.
Any other assets will be allocated to Jikiden Reiki Institute.This constitution was agreed upon at the creation of the Jikiden Reiki UK Association by all four original core Committee members and ratified by the Jikiden Reiki Institute Japan.
