Reiki is often sought by people looking for support with their general wellbeing, relaxation and recovery. Reiki energy healing is a gentle, holistic approach to health and wellbeing that provides dedicated time to slow down, rest and relax whilst receiving Reiki from a trained practitioner throughout the session.

Receivers of Jikiden Reiki treatments often report experiencing positive effects on physical, emotional and mental levels.

For those interested in traditional Japanese Reiki, Jikiden Reiki (opens in new tab)offers a treatment approach based on more than 60 years of experience with teachings passed down through its original Japanese tradition.

Reiki Healing and Wellbeing

People choose Reiki for healing for many different reasons. You may be looking for a peaceful treatment that allows you to completely switch off, or you may want additional support while dealing with a period of physical or emotional difficulty.

Many people seek Reiki to support recovery  while healing from surgery or illness, or to help them manage the stress of life's challenges with greater ease and relaxation. Others report finding Reiki helpful as they go through the side effects of certain medical therapies.

There are a number of studies and clinical research indicating that Reiki can be helpful when people are experiencing painful conditions or side effects of certain treatments. You can read **more about these studies here(opens in new tab).

A Reiki session can provide a calm environment away from the demands of everyday life. Many people find the experience deeply relaxing while also feeling a sense of invigoration once the session is finished.

When the body and mind begin to relax more deeply, it leaves us feeling lighter and clearer. As we face the situations and circumstances in our lives, a sense of peacefulness allows us to look with greater clarity and to make choices from a place of presence rather than reaction.

What Happens During a Reiki Healing Treatment?

A Reiki treatment is simple and requires very little preparation. You remain fully clothed and will normally lie comfortably on a treatment couch. However, if this is not possible for you, your Reiki practitioner will make sure you can receive Reiki in a comfortable position. The trained Reiki professional giving your treatment will talk to you beforehand about your needs and how the treatment is given and they will answer any questions you may have.

Jikiden Reiki Treatment

During a Jikiden Reiki treatment, the practitioner generally places their hands directly on different areas of the body. The areas will vary according to the reasons the person has come for treatment and what is needed. It’s important to remember that you are able to move or ask the practitioner to change something if you are not comfortable at any time.

Sessions usually last between one hour and ninety minutes, although the exact length can vary between practitioners. The aim is to provide a quiet, comfortable environment where you can relax while receiving treatment.

In Jikiden Reiki, after your initial session, if you want to continue we recommend receiving a series of treatments in order to achieve the greatest benefits. The effects are cumulative as your body becomes familiar with receiving these relaxing sessions. Many practitioners offer prices for a series of 3, 6 or 12 treatments for this reason.

Why Do People Choose Reiki for Healing?

There are many reasons someone might decide to try Reiki. For some people, it is simply a way to make time for themselves and step away from the stresses of everyday life. Others seek Reiki alongside their existing approach to health and wellbeing.

People may choose Reiki to:

  • create time for rest and promote deep relaxation
  • support their general wellbeing
  • nurture themselves during periods of physical or emotional difficulty
  • take a break from everyday pressures
  • relieve stress and find a calmer approach to life
  • experience a holistic approach to wellness

Reiki can be part of a wider approach to looking after yourself, alongside appropriate healthcare and other forms of support.

“I love the way Jikiden Reiki is an incredibly relaxing treatment that works on the body and blockages, but goes so much deeper to work on the mind and emotions at the same time. It's the perfect reset, recharge, rebalance.”
